State of the Project, July 2026

Greetings, dear readers! My apologies for the delay in posting, but I finished the semester on the crispy side of burnt out, and then I had a vacation roadtripping across the American West with my husband for a few weeks, and now I’m back.

As seen in the image for this post, this particular entry is brought to you by the letter M, which I have just finished with. This summer has been interesting on the research fronts, not least because I had a student volunteer to assist with some data entry, which is greatly appreciated. As I can’t pay this student, any work they manage to do is strictly a bonus bit and I’m excited to have any of it. The letter M in itself, since March, has given a number of insights.

  • McMaster University Library has a number of really good things, including the French translation of Henrietta as well as The Memoirs of the Countess of Berci AND The Story of Eliza!
  • I had to sort through the various libraries of the University of Wisconsin and consolidate them, so that’s done now.
  • The University of Delaware also has a respectable collection of Lennox holdings, which is nice to see.
  • Michigan State University also has a copy of the Memoirs for the History of Madame de Maintenon!

Next up is, of course N, which between the “New*” states, “National” libraries, and the Newberry should provide some interesting sorting.

Number of libraries confirmed: 405
Number of libraries entered into the database: 118
Number of extant copies confirmed: 1411
